Position Desc

Product Manager

Under general direction, will plan, direct, and coordinate the marketing of the organization's products in order to grow the business and meet company objectives.

·         Establish marketing objectives and strategy for product lines to achieve market share goals and profitability of products and/or services by developing the overall strategic and marketing plans.

·         Achieve or exceed the agreed upon financial objectives of the product line by management of the financial and promotional resources available to reach objectives.

·         Develop, execute, and communicate marketing strategies, both short and long range, to sales force and marketing groups through written material, discussions and interactive training programs to ensure the profit growth and expansion of company products and/or services. This involves planning market research, product and program development, pricing strategies, communication, field implementation, and training for specific market segments.

·         Plan and oversee product line specific advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, and direct mail outlets.

·         Lead and project manage the integration of new product/company acquisitions.

·         Support the Sales team as a product specialist at selling events such as trade shows.

·         Monitor product line performance and institute corrective action by forecast adjustments, engineering modifications, marketing literature modifications, and promotional programs. Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.

·         Identify and develop strategic alliances with key opinion leaders within the market segment and work to develop clinical research and outcome information.

·         Communicate with outside advertising agencies on ongoing campaigns. Work with writers and artists and oversee copy writing, design, layout, paste-up, and production of promotional materials.

·         Implement marketing programs and product introduction programs by consulting with field managers and field personnel to determine potential market responses.  Evaluate market reactions to advertising programs, merchandising policy, and product packaging and formulation to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.

·         Act as primary marketing liaison with other departments by interfacing with the research, development, quality control, regulatory, and production functions.

·         Assess opportunities to expand the product offering by researching and identifying companies, products, and technologies that may fit within and augment existing product lines. Develop new product business cases.

·         Lead and consult with cross-functional teams to launch new products and implement marketing programs.

·         Effectively interact with senior management within the company and field sales, as well as with peer managers within Marketing.

 

Required Skills:

·         Knowledge of medical device manufacturing or related field.

·         Skill in assessing employee and vendor performance.

·         Skill in preparing and conducting effective presentations.

·         Ability to demonstrate strong project management, analytical, interpersonal, problem resolution, presentation, creative and conceptual thinking skills.

·         Ability to develop marketing strategies and implementation plans and effectively execute them.

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with many levels of employees of various disciplines and departments and other external contacts.

·         Ability to understand marketing methodologies and strategic planning principles.

·         Ability to transform ideas into focused action that achieves desired business results.

·         Ability to coordinate a variety of activities, often involving participation of other departments.

·         Ability to function in a controlled environment regulated by FDA GMPs and handle restricted, confidential, private, or personal information.

·         Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various office machines such as personal computer, FAX, copier, and telephone.

 

Required Experience:

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training in medical marketing or sales of health care or pharmaceutical products, including product management and new product development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is currently located in Concord, CA; however, relocation to the Central Coast area is required after one year.
