as an Automotive Specialist Samvardhana Motherson Reflectec (SMR) is one of the largest manufacturers of exterior rearview mirrors for passenger cars in the world.
The group develops, produces and distributes exterior mirrors, interior mirrors, blind spot
detection systems and a wide range of other automotive components. Its broad customer
base includes all major carmakers in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
Prepares production schedules based on customer demand, safety stock level and capacity/resource planning to support all production and service assembly lines. Prepares supplier schedules for all purchased components required to support production requirements.
5-7 years experience, Chrysler/ Ford experience, QAD experience, paint scheduling experience a plus.
CRITICAL VITAL ACTIVITIES
Establish and maintain at all times appropriate planning parameters and safety stock levels for all purchased components and finished goods within the ERP system to ensure all data and values are processed correctly within the MPS and MRP applications.
Review, monitor, update ERP system and correct, where applicable, all customer release data to ensure accuracy of information and ensure adherence to contractual sales agreements.
Manage the transportation and material flow for the business within or below budgeted levels.
Ensures all required part number set-ups are complete an accurate in the operating system to ensure customer schedules load properly, labels print correctly, backflush will process, cross references are established where necessary, supplier schedules are correct, shippers generate correctly, etc.
Prepares daily MPS schedule for all production lines which includes variant sort to ensure minimal changeovers at the line, component stock availability to support build schedule, meets customer RSS for both quantity and date in addition to maintaining appropriate stock bank where applicable
Customer service liaison supporting all scheduling and delivery related issues .
Responsible for maintaining/achieving acceptable customer delivery ratings as established by the trading partner and/or those determined by management.
Daily review and follow-up of all purchased component releases/schedules to ensure on time delivery that will support production build schedules and maintain appropriate inventory levels (safety stock). Communicate and track all under/over shipments.
Solid /timely verbal and written communication with all departments related to establishing, creating, changing and approving part number implementation within the operating system.
Direct responsibility for expediting any product or component that will effect our ability to meet the customer requirements along with proper documentation for the expedite.
Participates in appropriate or required meetings and monitors internal ramp up processes to ensure timely completion as it relates to supporting new product introductions. Must have ability to take a project from inception to completion.
Reviews all customer specific requirements to ascertain correct levels and compliance.
Develop and maintain 5S compliance.
Update QOS system with monthly performance data including customer ratings, supplier delivery, premium freight costs and any other applicable departmental measurables.
Develop solid working knowledge of customer external systems including but not limited to SMART for DCX and DDL for Ford.
Establish mutually beneficial supplier relationships to ensure reliable component supply and solid communication to resolve issues as they arise.
Must communicate daily with supervisors on status of schedule, materials availability, order size and shifts required.
Monitor and recommend adjustments to capacity limits of department for consistency with the production schedule.
Maintain inventories to service the customer 100% on-time.
Monitor and coordinate disposition of obsolete and slow moving inventory (through supplier/customers claims minimizing the direct impact on the department), manage inventory levels to meet or exceed the numbers set by management, have an active role in physical inventory activities, counts and reconciliation, reduce and maintain stock outs.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years in a materials or scheduling/planning related position within a mid-sized manufacturing environment. Tier 1 preferred but not required.
Minimum of 2 years inventory control, purchasing and/or material planning experience required.
Solid working knowledge of EDI requirements within the automotive industry required.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must possess ability to multi-task with effective follow through relating to all ongoing activities.
Highly organized individual that performs well under pressure.
Decision making must be based on facts and delivered in a professional manner at all times.
Strong customer service and negotiation skills are necessary to perform well in this position.
Demonstrates leadership although there are no direct reports to this position. This position has high level responsibility and should be managed accordingly.
Working experience and/or solid knowledge of KanBan and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Strong mathematical and problem solving skills/competencies are necessary to succeed in this position.
Substantial knowledge and experience in production scheduling and MRP are essential.
Must be extremely computer literate not only in working within ERP systems but with PC based applications as well.
Four year degree in a business related field desired.
