Application Server Administrator – Silver Spring, MD
Will work with the System Development Division to provide IT support to the National Geodetic Survey (NGS). Will administrate and configure Apache web server and Tomcat in a government environment that conforms to FISMA controls. Will analyze system weaknesses and vulnerabilities and provide artifacts and supporting documentation to assist in the closure of POAMs.Will configure the auditing and monitoring of the Apache and Tomcat servers, including patches and upgrades. Will create and/or update installation and configuration documentation. Create secure configuration baselines for all Web server components and implement hardening guidelines. Will analyze and report on user access; identify trends and the most popular products and features; and respond to problem reports concerning access to the NGS web server.
2 + years of experience with Apache web server, Tomcat, and Glassfish administration and configuration, preferably in a government controlled environment. Must have knowledge of what functions different Apache web server modules perform and what impacts these modules may have in an operating environment. Need strong documentation skills to document security control standard operating procedures and CIS benchmark baseline configurations for Apache and Tomcat. Must have experience migrating large web sites to content management systems such as Drupal or Wordpress and with Content Management System configuration, using LDAP to authenticate users to the CMS. BS in Web Design, Development, related discipline, or equivalent.
