Project Manager

Are you a mechanical engineer with extensive capital project management and project engineering experience in the refining, Oil & Gas, or petrochemical industry? Are you interested in leveraging your experience to advance your career?

If so, we have an exceptional opportunity! Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager for a key project leadership position in its Saint Paul, Minnesota refinery.

Our client is an independent U.S. energy company with refining, retail, and pipeline operations that serve the Midwest region. The company owns an advanced refinery in Saint Paul that is capable of processing a full range of light, heavy, sweet and sour crudes into a broad slate of higher value refined products, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and asphalt. There is an abundance of capital projects under way and scheduled that driven by growth and expansion at the site.


As the Project Manager, you will develop and manage the 
execution of a capital projects in the refinery. These projects range from $5MM to $50MM in size, and typically consist of revamp and expansion projects. Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare project scopes of work & preliminary cost estimates
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants in the preparation of drawings & project specs
  • Prepare specifications & bid requests for new equipment
  • Coordinate construction & startup activities with maintenance and operations personnel
  • Evaluate bids & prepare purchase evaluations, and review & approve vendor drawings
  • Inspect new equipment & construction
  • Provide engineering expertise for pressure vessels, piping, pumps, heat exchangers
  • Support and/or lead root cause analysis studies and incident investigations

 

Background Requirements  

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) 
  • 10+ years of Project engineering and project management experience in the refining, Oil & Gas, or petrochemical industry, or similar industrial manufacturing setting
  • Extensive project management experience: PMI certification is required, and PMP credential is preferred
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
