Project Manager- Life/Annuities Insurance

Interactive Business Systems has partnered with a Cincinnati company to locate a project manager with experience in the life/annuity industry for a long-term contract position that could turn into a full-time position.


This individual would be working in the Information technology department for the life insurance and non-qualified annuity products business located in Cincinnati, OH.

The role of the Senior Project Manager is to oversee the overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project oriented work efforts that will be focused on IT solutions. . 

The Sr. Project manager will establish and implement rigorous project management processes and methodologies to help ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards, and meet customer expectations. 

The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for assembling project plans and team assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review, and escalating functional, quality and timeline issues and risks appropriately. 

Manage multiple, complex, cross-functional mid- to large-size projects/programs for insurance and after-tax-annuity products to include but not limited to:

  • Concept development 
  • Business case development 
  • Initial implementation and full lifecycle enhancements 
  • Process/workflow improvements
  • Infrastructure upgrades

Responsibilities:


  • Managing full project lifecycle supporting new insurance and/or after tax annuity product development, existing product enhancements, infrastructure management/upgrades, process improvement automation efforts, conversions and other projects as assigned.
  • Manages all project processes (initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing) for projects.
  • Drives product from concept/ideation stage through the product development governance process.
  • Manages project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement management using standard project management techniques and tools.
  • Facilitates building support for product initiatives and other growth initiatives across the organization. Utilizing project management methodology and best practices. 
  • Responsible for overseeing and at times executing the business analysis tasks associated with projects.
  • Identifies project risks and proactively engages business partners to quantify and resolve issues.
    Enhance strong customer relationships, demonstrates full understanding of the business and is able to anticipate customer needs.
  • Manage and mentor a team of business analysts.
  • Serve as liaison amongst the business Operations unit and IT (including internal and vendor partners).


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 plus years of project management experience. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of life insurance and/or after-tax annuity product experience. 
  • Financial services industry experience dealing with complex and cross-organizational initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects varying in complexity with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written/verbal communication, negotiation and presentation skills. 
  • Quick learner, ability to enter into unfamiliar territory and quickly adapt. 
  • Detail oriented.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent job experience
  • Strong analytical, technical and decision-making skills. 
  • A Project Management certification is preferred.
