The essential responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Engineer are to create and modify Selenium automated test scripts based on manual test cases, functional requirements or existing functionality of the system. These automated tests are to be developed in keeping with the established automation framework. Analyze test results and reports any issues or defects found to the responsible QA, development or business unit. Perform code reviews of automation scripts for compliance with department standards. Effectively communicate with QA team members. The role of the automation engineer is to build scripts that will increase the coverage of QA's regression testing while making the testing more efficient as to be able to execute multiple times if needed.
Designs/automates test flows within a hybrid keyword/data-driven framework.
Executes tests scripts for unit testing and regression testing for maintenance/project releases.
Analyzes manual test cases and functional specifications to determine best approach for automating scripts.
Analyzes test results to report defects and issues found during test run.
Documents scripts with comments to provide insight to test logic.
Provides estimates and status updates on automation scripts.
Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of related experience
Strong development skills with Java, or Python (but any language used by Selenium would be applicable).
Excellent problem solving skills with regards to Selenium, various browsers and web based application environments.
Ability to comprehend complexity, to fully understand a product with all of its business and technological implications, and to approach the improvement of its quality from that perspective.
Good knowledge of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Commitment to meeting project deadlines
High degree of efficiency and motivation in work habits in a challenging, fast-paced environment
Good computer skills, including but not limited to: knowledge of multiple software programs (i.e. Quality Center, MS Word, MS Excel, Lotus Notes, etc.), operating systems, basic networking skills, and basic hardware knowledge
Desire and ability to learn new skills and improve upon current skills
