Summary of Quality Engineering Position:

This position is an outstanding opportunity for a well-rounded quality engineer with experience in all aspects of the Quality functions. You will have the opportunity to work with customers, suppliers, and in-house team members, such as, product design, manufacturing/production, purchasing, scheduling, customer service, warehousing, and facilities engineering.

Primary Responsibilities

§  Lead problem solving teams in the investigation, problem resolution, and implementing of corrective actions and improvements

§  Develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans and systems

§  Assist in the development of validation and qualification protocols

§  Understand and be familiar with product and service quality for plastic molded, thermoformed and extruded products

§  Assist in evaluating, implementing, and maintaining Quality Management Systems that comply with ISO 9000, FDA CFR Regulations, for medical device, pharma, food industries.

§  Perform internal and external audits

§  Evaluate manufacturing systems and processes and provide recommendations to make improvements.

§  Define quality criteria and requirements

§  Develop and implement inspection, measurement, and test procedures and methods

§  Develop, implement, and maintain measurement systems

§  Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Knowledge and Skills Required

§  A fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, standards, organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction, supplier relations and performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships, improvement systems, and professional ethics.

§  A fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation, and implementation with respect to domestic and international standards or requirements.

§  A basic understanding of the audit process including types of audits, planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and follow-up.

§  Able to develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving.

§  Able to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles, which include planning processes, material control, acceptance sampling, and measurement systems.

§  Have a basic knowledge of reliability, maintainability, and risk management, including key terms and definitions, modeling, systems design, assessment tools, and reporting.

§  A thorough understanding of problem solving and quality improvement tools and techniques. This includes knowledge of management planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvement.

§  Able to acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements.

§  Knowledge and experience with quality tools, such as, 8D, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, CAPA, six sigma and lean manufacturing. FEMA, 5 Why, and/or root-cause-analysis.


§  A minimum of bachelor’s degree, preferred in engineering, with a minimum of five (5) to 7 years of experience in the quality function of a manufacturing operation. or a bachelor’s degree in another field with a minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in the quality function of a manufacturing operation.

§  Certification as an ASQ – CQE preferred, not required.

§  Outstanding computer skills including MS Office, Minitab or other statistical programs, Enterprise Management Systems, such as SAP, Prism, etc.

§  An assertive team player who treats colleagues with respect.

§  Outstanding communication skills including listening, writing, and speaking.

§  Knowledge of quality systems standards, such as, ISO 9000 and 13485, FDA CFR for medical device, pharma, food safety.

§  Ability to manage multiple projects and/or assignments at one time. Know how to prioritize.

§  A valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
