Introduction: Required Qualifications:
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Real-Time System, Digital Hardware, and Embedded Software Engineer.
Apply both hardware and software engineering expertise to the design and development of embedded real-time controllers used for hardware-in-the-loop testing and evaluation of advanced RF sensor, guidance and navigation systems.

B.S. degree in electrical engineering. At least 5 years of experience with real-time systems, embedded hardware and software development, and design/test of complex hardware/software systems. Excellent communication skills and ability to document and publish designs and results. Fluent with C, C++, real-time operating systems, and hardware description languages (i.e. VHDL, Verilog). Experience with Matlab, configuration management, and software quality engineering concepts and practices. Knowledge and experience with standard interfaces including PCIe. Knowledge of RF systems, electronics and digital hardware.
Ten or more years of experience with real-time systems, embedded hardware and software development, and design/test of complex hardware/software systems. Demonstrated ability to lead development teams. Desirable software experience also includes some web application technologies (i.e., Java, HTML) and GUI application programming. Experience with a broad range of industry standard tools including ModelSim, Synplicity, Xilinx, Altera, and Actel. Experience across multiple applications including RF sensors and systems, radar, guidance, navigation and control.
