About the Job

Description/Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to support the Fund Controller in the preparation of the company’s consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies. 


Major Tasks and Responsibilities

·         Preparation, review and analysis of the company’s monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements including the cash flow statement

·         Preparation of applicable journal entries and reconciliations

·         Equity and non-controlling interest accounting calculations

·         Preparation of audit schedules and day-to day interaction with the external auditors

·         Preparation of monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc financial reports including schedules for the Board of Directors’

·         Preparation of supporting documentation for SEC filings

·         Ensure compliance of company policies, GAAP requirements and SEC compliance

·         Establish and document accounting policies and procedures

·         Research accounting issues as needed and exercise independent judgment in making decisions and resolving complex problems.



·         Consolidations experience

·         Experience with joint venture accounting

·         Self-starter and ability to work independently and within a team environment and to make well-reasoned and timely decisions

·         Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

·         Works well under strict deadlines

·         Real estate experience preferred

·         2-4 years of relevant experience

·         Experience with MRI or other Real Estate software and IT systems is a plus

·         Proficient in Excel



Available to work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with supervisors, other accounting departments and any other person or organization
with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
