Senior Electrical Engineer
Precision Resource Company is currently seeking a Senior Nuclear Electrical Engineer for a direct hire position in Naperville, IL or Stonington, CT.
The successful candidate will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects. Successful candidate must have past experience with evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, having used independent judgment in performing calculations, modifications and designs and the ability to present and justify modification packages to quality and safety reviews.
Individual will possess superior technical knowledge of electrical discipline and the ability to work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions, propose modifications and develop design changes which will improve plant performance, safety and reliability. Individual must have the ability to interface and work with equipment vendors as needed. Experience in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers is required. Prior experience mentoring junior level engineers is a plus.
Must be familiar with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry as well as possess working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations (including the NRC). Superior client skills and understanding of the roles and other disciplines, as well as the ability to coordinate and interface with other disciplines is a must. Past experience with, and extensive knowledge of nuclear power plant electrical systems and engineering is required.
Position includes managing budget, scope, schedule and quality associated with the designated work assignment with minimal guidance and technical oversight and the ability to establish own work priorities. Position will require the ability to devise new approaches to solve technical problems with a broad knowledge of precedents in the industry.
BS or MS in electrical engineering from an accredited university. Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is desirable. 10 - 15 years of experience required, with at least 10 of those years with nuclear power experience. Electrical Distribution System Modeling and Calculation experience using ETAP or SKM software is desired. Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems (switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, etc.) and familiarity with electrical load flow, voltage drop and short circuit calculation methodology is required. Experience with operating plant procedures, processes and nuclear plant licensing is required.
All applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Experience in the nuclear power industry and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of and experience in project scheduling techniques is a plus. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening, maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures and processes. Overtime work may be required at times.
