We have an opening for a Senior Power Systems Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager based out of our Cherry Hill, NJ location. This individual will be responsible for supporting the RPS Power System and engineering business units by providing engineering expertise to power projects for a wide range of industries including Pipeline, Refining, Chemical, Utilities, and Heavy Industrial.
•Specify and apply medium voltage equipment including switchgear, drives, motor controllers, soft starters.
•Specify and apply low voltage equipment including switchgear, switchboards, drives, motor controllers, soft starters.
•Perform power system studies including short circuit, arc flash, relay coordination, motor starting, ground grid design, etc.
•Interpret customer specifications and develop technical requirements for vendor equipment and subcontractor RFQs.
•Perform technical bid tabulations on vendor equipment and subcontractor quotes.
•Develop electrical drawings including single lines, motor schematics, grounding, lighting.
•Perform design calculations for sizing electrical equipment, cables, circuit breakers, fuses, etc. per the NEC and applicable codes.
•Self-management of assignments and accountability to perform work within budget and per the schedule.
•Perform technical reviews for vendor equipment drawings and specifications.
•Manage other engineers, designers, subcontractors to develop deliverables and/or perform field work within budget and schedule.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
•Minimum 10 years of Power Systems engineering experience.
•Professional Engineering License.
•Experience with Power System Software, SKM or ETAP.
•Valid driver’s license.
•Strong oral and written communication skills.
•Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.).
•Ability to work with limited supervision.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
•Experience with control systems including PLCs.
•Experience with electrical construction, testing and test equipment.
•Experience with prefabricated substation and control house buildings.
•Experience in developing home office man-hour estimates and installed cost estimates.
•Experience in developing man loaded schedules, tracking performance and progress.
•Experience with Microsoft Project.
