Senior Sales Engineer

About the Job

Software Methods is seeking a Senior Sales Engineer to join our client’s sales team in the suburban Philadelphia, PA area.

Position Summary

The Senior Sales Engineer role will support Strategic Account Managers and the ideal candidate would possess a technical degree (BS/BA) and 7+ years of related experience with 3+ years in technology. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: delivering commercial sales demonstrations, creating custom demo environments, promoting client’s technology to high-level technical and financial executives and occasionally attending tradeshows and meetings.  This role also involves creating custom integration pieces with a variety of systems (Salesforce, Business Rules Engine, Custom Reporting etc.) 

In the Senior Sales Engineer role you will work internally with many teams, including: sales, support, professional services and product development.   This is a highly visible role and will involve executive-level communications and external prospect/client interactions.


Key experience/attributes for the candidate include the following:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in software and cloud technology
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience successfully interacting in a collaborative way with both sales, marketing and product organizations
  • Proficient in creating custom scripts using Software Development Kits
  • Proficient in understanding logical processes with ability to translate scenarios into technical workflows
  • A demonstrated ability to represent and articulate solution to customers
  • A minimum of 7 years responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience conveying customer requirements to product management teams
  • Ability to travel up to 30% throughout sales territory
  • A degree in business or a related field


  • Prior experience in Financial, CRM, Billing, Telco, SaaS or ERP technology a plus;
  • Ability to create testing scenarios and mockup demo environments
  • Salesforce customization ability (including Workflow Rules, Reports, Custom Flows)
  • Outgoing, positive attitude and ability to create own tasks and manage time effectively
