SMALL BATCH TECHNICIAN

Second Shift

JOB PURPOSE:

The Small Batch Technician is responsible for producing products that are assigned to the department due to the volume requirements of the customer.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

·       Produce product according to batch ticket specifications

·       Mix, tint and prepare samples for Quality Control

·       Fill containers with product according to specifications

·       Maintain a clean work area

·       As part of the housekeeping procedures, the employee may be involved with the disposal of hazardous waste. The initial training of how to properly dispose of hazardous waste will be performed by the Environmental and Safety Coordinator or the department supervisor. Annual training of the same will be performed by the Environmental and Safety Coordinator.

·       Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

           

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

·       Preferred education level: High school diploma or GED

·       Preferred experience level: Three or more years of experience with coatings production which includes batchmaking, mixing and weighing

·       Forklift certification strongly preferred

·       Ability to pass a math test and color tinting test

·       Excellent communication skills

·       Willing to work in a team environment

·       Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 65 pounds while performing duties.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The employee may be frequently exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles in the production area. The employee will frequently work with hazardous materials. The employee may be exposed to humid conditions (non-weather) and may be working near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.

Personal Protection Equipment is required during various processes in the production area. Safety shoes, glasses, and flame retardant uniforms are required in the production area. Respirators and ear plugs may be required when performing certain production activities.
