Security Clearance Eligibility: Must be a US Citizen or Current Green Card Holder who is able to pass a Federal Government Background Investigation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots local and wide area networks (LAN and WAN), telecommunications, VoIP; VPN, evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and telecommunications equipment. Troubleshoots problems; implements LAN policies and procedures and ensures adherence to security procedures.
Assignments involve the analysis, testing, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance and management of networked systems used for transmission of information in voice, data and video. The incumbent must demonstrate the skill to maintain network infrastructure; configure network servers, hubs, routers, switches, firewalls and virtual private networks; monitor network workload, capacity and performance; diagnose and resolve network problems; develop network backup and recovery procedures; install, test, maintain and upgrade network HW and SW.
Responsible for studying, monitoring and planning for integration of emerging technologies to include emerging automation, communication, and technological trends and recommending integration of new capabilities into existing and office automation systems.
Supports Cisco switches, using the Cisco IOS software to provide Multi-Level Security backbone support to the networks.
Supports the management of 5 routers for network connectivity.
Must be familiar with Windows based workstations and servers.
Provides support for exercise and contingency operations to ensure connectivity between the Headquarters and remote field offices and users.
Installs additional communication hardware and implement enhancements for new systems.
Generates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and as-built drawings.
Works with senior network administrators to:
Provide technical network management necessary to ensure continuous operation of systems with an operational uptime rate of 99%.
Research new technologies.
Resolve highly complex network interoperability problems.
US Citizen with the ability to pass a government background investigation. Must meet eligibility requirements for access to information systems.
BS in Information Technology or related field required.
5 years hands on working experience with Cisco IOS software, routers, switches and VoIP systems
