Sr. Engineer - Supplier Development

The incumbent will be responsible for the analysis and measurement of supplier performance, defining and accessing the level of quality and capabilities of a supplier, and working with the supplier on supplier development opportunities. The role supports internal plant Quality and supplier related customer returns to drive continuous improvement in the areas of Quality, Delivery, & Cost for the facility.
Essential Functions: - Assists in the definition and guidance of supplier development activities to ensure suppliers are meeting or exceeding expectations. - Defines overall approach to data analysis to determine performance level of suppliers. Responsible for DPPM, and RTV metrics for supply base. - Drives problem solving and root cause analysis activities in order to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances. Owns and manages the corrective action process with supply base by issuing DMR’s and Supplier chargebacks where necessary. - Assists in customer-related corrective actions pertaining to supplier-related issues. - Ensure compliance to ISO/EQS (Eaton Quality System) and lead efforts to continually improve how it is applied throughout the facility and supply base. - Defines and facilitates cross-functional teams involving the supplier and Eaton functions in order to seek continuous improvement. - Actively participates as a member of PROLaunch New Product Development teams, representing both plant and supplier quality functions. - Lead APQP activities for Suppliers. Owns and manages the PPAP process for the facility. - Co-leads Material Review Board (MRB) process and represents supplier interest. - Participates and support all Continuous Improvement and Lean activities as necessary. - Champions Worldwide Interactive Supplier Performance Evaluation Resource (WISPER) on-going support and management at Airflex. - Leads RTV processing and inventory of RTV product. - Supports assessments for both current and new suppliers in order to access capability and fit for Eaton Corporation. - Support all plant health and safety efforts. Provide safety coaching and identify safety improvements as required. - Identifies opportunities to drive cost out of the organization through improvements, both internally and with supply base.

- Bachelors Degree in engineering, Industrial or Manufacturing Technology
- Minimum 1 year of manufacturing plant experience in the field of Quality. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Position Criteria: - Knowledge of quality methods and systems and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. - Strong analytical skills and understanding of problem solving tools/methods. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Experience building effective relationships with suppliers. - Proven capability to lead change in a team environment. - Position may require travel to other Eaton facilities, customers, and/or suppliers. - Position will require acting as back-up for other members of the Operational Excellence (OPEX) team. - Position will require to work collaboratively with diverse hourly workforce.
Preferred (not required) Qualifications: - 3-5 years experience in the field of Quality in a manufacturing plant environment. - Mechanical, Industrial, Quality, or Manufacturing engineering degree. - Background with specific knowledge of castings and machining. - ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is preferred. - Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt. - Knowledge of Supply Chain and Purchasing requirements. - Project Management experience or PMP certification. - New product development and project life cycle management.
