Supervisor - TPL, W/C, COBRA
Health Advocates is seeking a Supervisor to oversee the TPL, W/C & Cobra units within our TPR department at our main office in Sherman Oaks. (Please note that our offfices will be moving to Chatsworth, CA in April of 2014.)

Responsible to overlook and maintain day to day functions of reporting staff in the Third Party Recovery Department relating to TPL, W/C, and Cobra.
Essential day to day responsibilities
Overview Department work flow in general
Monitor and assist in troubleshooting accounts to minimize delays so that an expedient resolution is obtained
Overview the preparation of staff reviews and address performance and/or other issues related to day to day function of the Department
Ensure reporting staff complies with Health Advocates employee handbook and code of ethics
Review problem files before file is transferred to Legal department for further handling
Review files referred from the settlement and workers compensation staff to be close to ensured efforts to recover were exhausted and/or justification is valid before closing the account.
Review compromise offers received form attorneys insurance companies and patient to ensure the recovery is maximized from settlement/awards before presenting the compromise offer to the client for review.
Work with staff on using best strategies to maximize the recovery on behalf of clients
Follow up with clients to ensure response to compromise offers are received in a timely fashion
Review checks received on settled accounts to ensure paid amounts are correct and under the terms of agreement before checks are deposited and/or processed
Monitor TPL, W/C & COBRA staff day to day activity to ensure accounts are worked in a timely manner
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
At least 3 years supervisory experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirement
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong ability to problem solve
Ability to work independently and with others
Computer and data entry skills a must
Detail oriented with good organizational skills
Position Type: Full-time; Exempt
Salary: (depending on experience)
This position requires access to confidential protected health information (PHI). This employee is expected to protect the privacy of all PHI in accordance with Health Advocates’ privacy policies and procedures and as required by state and federal law including but not limited to the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rule.
Although this position requires access to PHI in order to do their work, the employee will have access to only the minimum amount of PHI necessary for the business function, and understands that further use or disclosure of PHI is a violation of HIPAA's Safeguards and those requirements of the Privacy Rule.
