                                        Systems Engineer - Suspension/Dynamics

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for leading the design and development of systems influencing vehicle ride and handling. This would be over the GEM Electric cars product line.

Specific area of specialty is suspension systems and vehicle dynamics for small on-road and off-road vehicles. The focus is to ensure world class ride quality and vehicle attributes while balancing cost, weight, durability, and performance requirements.

Responsibilities:

·         Develop vehicle level performance, ride quality, and handling characteristic targets to meet or exceed customer expectation.

Lead the process for making system architecture decisions.
Responsible for determination and development of suspension and steering technologies.

·        
Analyze and predict system performance characteristics.
Develop and present concepts to meet project needs or solve engineering problems.

·        
Perform optimization and tuning using virtual and physical testing methods.
Work with project teams to develop system specifications.

·        
Determine appropriate component sourcing to ensure overall design, quality, and performance conformance.

·        
Determine the type of electronic models, detail drawings, and analysis required to support the release cycle.

·        
Work with project teams to define product validation plans.

·        
Guide designers within team to enable satisfactory design completion.

·        
Lead or participates in reviews to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.

·        
Analyzes field problems and recommends possible solutions.

·        
Represents the Company at engineering/legal standards conformance meetings; prepares record searches, depositions, site, and vehicle examination reports as required.

 

Education, Skills and Knowledge:

·         B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related curriculum required.

·         Design and development experience required.

·         Understanding and experience with suspension and steering systems.

·         Experienced in design of experiments and optimization methodology.

·         Pro-E experience preferred.

·         Data acquisition and analysis experience preferred

·         Experience with GD&T, dimensional stack-ups and FMEA preferred.

·         Experience with system specifications preferred.

·         Creative, innovative, decisive and prone to action.

·         Quality and customer focused.
