About the Job

Environmental Technician - Great for College Student

Due to tremendous growth, VMX International has an immediate opening for a part time Environmental Technician.  The following are an overview of the job responsibilities:


>Actively participate in the identification, development, and implementation of best practices

>Analyze existing and new business opportunities for: cost reductions, new treatment technologies, recycling, alternative use, waste minimization, other core/non-core business service lines.

>Assist with logistics operations concerning roll-offs, end dumps, tankers and vans.

>Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
>Ensure the proper packaging of waste into containers most appropriate and cost effective. 
>Marking, labeling, and moving containers of hazardous waste.

>Work closely with hauling division, landfills, and industrial sales representatives.

>Manage non-routine events (turnarounds, remediation, demolition).

>By-product/co-product management

>Complete a waste profile, sample waste material, interpreting lab analysis, pre-classify waste, determine waste disposal options

>Assist in the development of a facility waste management plan including: identification and implementation of minimization and recycling opportunities, establishing and administering satellite accumulation areas, establishing and administering universal waste accumulation areas, 90-day storage areas.

>Assist in invoicing, profit improvement plans, projections, capital expenditures, cost tracking, cost reduction.




>Associates degree in business/environmental science/chemistry preferred. 

>0-3 years industrial waste-related experience.

>0-3 years experience in RCRA, DOT, and OSHA requirements for the management of hazardous and industrial wastes.

>40 hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus.

>0-3 years proven project management experience.

>Define problems, collect data, organize data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions

>Manage multiple tasks, work independently and meet deadlines.

>Must have a solid understanding of a Microsoft office environment.

>All candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

>All candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense.


Experience in finance, record keeping and invoicing a plus.


Has worked in positions without continuous direct supervision. Demonstrated ability to manage their own time and independently complete tasks. Ability to manage people and projects.
