About the Job: Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, provide inside legal counsel to Anka; supervises Director of Risk Management and Human Resources. Provide inside legal counsel to property services (e.g., purchases, leases, renewals, partnerships, investments, development, evictions, repair demands); gain expertise on SB-2 CUPs. Contract revue and development as necessary for program contracts, consulting contracts, other legally binding contractual agreements as needed. Preparation of contract summaries, including identification of required outputs and outcomes, milestones and benchmarks, schedule for reports and renewal, and actual-to-planned performance, billing and invoicing requirements. Manage all Anka contracts, including reviewing and negotiating contracts, electronic filing system, drafting subcontracts or consulting agreements, and interfacing with County, State, local, and private funders in the contract execution process. This is an exempt position.

Experience: At least three years NPO experience in transactional law (Human Resources, real estate, employment law, project and program agreements). NPO-related legal assistance, (e.g., mentally ill, homeless and developmentally disabled) a plus. Three years successful large bid proposal preparation preferred. Experience in providing legal counsel to executive staff.

Education: J.D.

Memberships: Member in good standing with the California Bar.

Skills and Abilities: Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, networking abilities, positive public relations, and team approach. Capable of using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and in utilizing the Internet as an information and research tool. Must be able to work under pressure in a multiple projects, multi-contributor environment. Ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to complete assigned tasks within time allotted. Ability to communicate verbally by phone in English in a clear and concise manner. Bi-lingual a plus. Capable of contributing as a win-win strategist or tactician. Maintain excellent working relationship with senior leadership.

Must have a valid California Driver’s License; good driving record. Proof of current auto insurance and must meet insurability requirements of Anka insurance carrier.
