Web Developer (Drupal) - Silver Spring, MD
The NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) manages the use, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of the NOAA ships, small craft, aircraft and shore facilities of the NOAA Fleet. The multiple websites used by OMAO to convey their information to the public require updating with newer web technologies.
The candidate’s primary job is to replace the multiple disparate existing websites targeting a common theme in a CMS (Drupal) environment. Will be expected to be familiar with and perform all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation and testing) in order to migrate the existing pages into a new, coherent, modern solution. Will thoroughly review the existing websites, interact with various stakeholders, create an acceptable design and architecture, and then implement the proposed solution in Drupal.
4-6 years of experience designing and developing websites employing the Drupal content management system and PHP. Must have knowledge and experience regarding the policies required for developing and deploying public websites for the federal government (e.g., 508 compliance). Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. The ability to work independently and experience with graphics tools such as Photoshop is highly desirable.
Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility and obtain access to government vessels.
BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Web Development, related discipline, or equivalent.
