WELDING AND FABRICATION ASSEMBLY SUPERVISOR

About the Job

JOB SUMMARY:

Overall responsibility for achieving departmental objectives in areas of safety, quality, manufacturing productivity efficiencies, and cost.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Including the following: Other duties may be assigned)

  • Responsible for completing the daily production sequence within the allotted time and resource requirements as determined by the demand based planners.
  • Responsible for assuring production meets or exceeds Tropitone’s established quality standards.
  • Responsible for recommending changes to production methods, systems and staffing in order to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Responsible for assigning duties to all direct reports and workers and monitoring progress of assigned tasks.
  • Responsible for pilot production of new models and design enhancements to existing models.
  • Responsible for the accurate reporting of manufacturing, quality, and productivity.
  • Responsible for departmental administration of all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner including; conducting performance reviews, enforcing attendance policy, recommending and executing staffing changes as deemed necessary.
  • Responsible for departmental compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Responsible to promote and enforce Tropitone Safety Award Program.
  • Responsible for department RIP inventory accuracy.
  • Responsible for training of employees to enhance their skill levels and to coach them in their performance.
  • Responsible for participation and support with all of the supervisory team to achieve overall company objectives and goals.
  • Responsible for checking, evaluating, and maintaining individual production.
  • Respond and communicate through e-mail.
  • Demonstrate leadership and taking initiative.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates, directs and monitors the work of 20 or more subordinate personnel.

 

QUALIFICATIONS(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  1. A. S. or B. S. in a technical discipline, management, or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Working knowledge of departmental specific manufacturing processes and systems.
  4. Must have at least 5 years of TIG welding experience.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Working knowledge of computers and application software Excel, MS Word, MS Windows required.  Knowledge of Oracle preferred.  Respond and communicate through e-mail.

 

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Must be able to communicate in English.  Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Certified Welder a plus.

        Must be able to identify and distinguish color.  Must not be color blind.
