Youth Care Worker/Direct Service Personnel
Since 1987, the Gwinnett Children’s Shelter, located in Buford, GA, has responded to the problem of child abuse, abandonment and neglect, serving over 6,000 children in the last 25 years of service. The Gwinnett Children’s Shelter’s goal is to end the hurt, start the healing and help youth develop into healthy individuals who will be the foundation of our thriving community.
Reporting to the Resident Services Director, the Direct Service Personnel (DSP) will supervise clients, ensure the client’s safety and compliance with agency rules and procedures, build positive and appropriate therapeutic relationships, growth and implement appropriate and effective behavioral intervention strategies as trained by the organization. Additionally, the candidate will float to any program area as needed.
Qualifications include: High school diploma/GED with 2 years’ experience working with youth in crisis• Bachelor's degree in a social science field preferred • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with adolescents, preferably in a residential setting • Must be 21 years of age • Be able to obtain a driver’s license in the state of GA • Clear all background checks and have a clear driver’s motor vehicle report. • Excellentoral, written and listening skills. • Energetic, engaging, motivating, creative, and able to manage multiple projects at a time. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fund raising data based programs required.
Shifts available: Part-time Direct Service Personnel every Saturday and Sunday 8-2pm, with the possibility of picking up other available shifts as needed during the week/weekend. $10.50/hour
On call (PRN) Direct Service Personnel: This candidate must be available to cover Day 2pm - Midnight and Overnight Awake 11pm-9am. $10.50/hour
